The Fastest Path to Thriving, Part. 1
Can you imagine living with good sleep, low hunger, plentiful energy, focused concentration, strong memory, no cravings, calm demeanor, comfortable body weight, adequate strength, interest in others and manageable stress?
There are people who live that way. And it’s not a static state either. They don’t live in a bubble of ecstasy with endless money and support and freedom. They live in our world and they use food and fitness to support their bodies, and especially the hormonal systems, instead of sabotaging themselves with choices that lead to diseases.
In 2018, Metabolic Syndrome and Related Disorders reported that only 12% of American adults are metabolically fit. The criteria was “optimal blood glucose, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, blood pressure, and waist circumference, without the need for medications.” This means 88% of our population has one or more health issues that will likely lead to chronic disease, which are directly influenced through diet and exercise.
This also means that very many of us, around 27 million, are walking around sick, and we don’t really pay attention to it. There are many very obvious and simple ways that our bodies communicate with us. Our bodies give us constant feedback, or at least that SOMETHING is wrong, and it’s rarely because we lack prescription medicine. But most often, we choose to read those signals as part of the typical adulting process, when instead, they are really the result of choices and behaviors. Chronological age does not cause less vibrant living (in fact, some people would argue that life after 50 is better than any other decade!) It’s different than youth, but it does not have to equate to sick and tired and cranky.
Because every system in our bodies is interrelated, a specific symptom may have many possible repercussions, but you can be assured that there is a root cause. It’s very uncommon that something just happens to dysfunction out of the blue. Chronic disease is slow growing over many years and as a result of many shared affects. The solution to our physical problems has the capacity to improve our whole life experience, perhaps more than ever before. In fact, we would likely be able to relieve many of the most common complaints by simply doing 3 things.
