Exercising Division

We all have them...reasons that justify the procrastination of priorities. It may not be exercise that you delay, or healthy eating, but there are things in each of our lives that we would prefer not to do.

The small choices we make each day have multiplied themselves and their sum is who and where we are this day. We can convince ourselves that we can put off the necessary until later, till we have some free time, till we know exactly what to say, do or be. Or, we can do the deeds, say what we mean, listen to the voice, write the words, move the body, eat the food, or whatever it is that we are subconsciously subtracting from our lives.

Using any excuse to avoid what is good for your life is synonymous to solving a math equation with a zero.

One of the reasons we put off till later what we need now is what I call the Power of Zero. Do you remember your math class when you learned about zero? It was the only number that destroyed every number it was multiplied or divided by. Adding zero gave nothing more. Subtracting zero took nothing away. The Power of Zero has the same affect in our lives today, but it's hidden in the excuses that we convince ourselves with to justify the means instead of taking us to the end. We like to reason with zero, but zero is absolute, there's no "maybe later" or "tomorrow"... you do nothing, you get nothing, period.

Using any excuse to avoid what is good for your life is synonymous to solving a math equation with a zero. There are certain habits that should be non-negotiable because of the multiplied positive benefits they bring. Exercise is one of those. If you haven't come to terms with daily exercise, it's time to graduate to higher-level living. Start with that one habit; move daily, without excuse or procrastination, and just see what happens. However, there is a place for the Power of Zero in your life. Every time your reasons for putting off moving equal more than actual moving, you need to do some zero division. Destroy that excuse that is destroying your health. There is no reason not to move. Settle that today. Divide your excuses by zero and solve that equation for the rest of your life.
