For the Love of lemons

Lemons remind me of the sun; bright, refreshing and energizing.  Turns out, lemons have a powerful affect on lots of great things in your body.  Taste may be the least important, but that tart acidity acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory inside you.  Chronic inflammation can be the pre-curser to major diseases, so any way we can bring the swelling down, we should.  Smart people have determined that it's the bioflavanoids inside the lemons that aid in digestion, reduce inflammation, improve blood vessel function and reduce fluid retention.  Who doesn't need all those side effects?  Here's a few great ways to start bringing more lemons into your life:

Green Lemon Smoothie
1-1.5 c water, ¾ c each frozen pineapple and mango, 4 stalks of celery or ¾ c of cucumber, 2 big handfuls of kale, juice of one lemon, 1 scoop protein powder.  Drink it.

Warm Lemon Refresher
Heat mug of water for 2 min in microwave, squeeze ½ lemon into water and 1 t raw, local, organic honey.  Drink it.

Cold Lemon Water
Fill 20-32 oz water bottle with cold or iced water.  Squeeze or slice ½ lemon. Drink it.

Afterwards, you'll feel hydrated, refreshed, and probably want to go get your workout on...maybe in some great LuluLEMON attire!  :)
