Belief in the Speed of Success
We notice the get-slim-quick schemes every time we’re shopping, reading a gossip magazine or listening to the radio. “Buy this and you’ll get fit fast! Then you’ll be happy, rich and beautiful!” And if we don’t have a truth filter in our heads, we will be seduced into craving some speedy success.
Believing what you read can only be validated by experience.
We only have to step back and think clearly about growth to know speed does not grow things well. Think of what does grow quickly: weeds...acne...shaved hair on our legs or faces...cancer...computer viruses.
It is much better to think of things that grow slowly: trees...teenage brains (!!!!!!)...muscle cells...love...trust...food preferences...money.
We consciously know good things grow slowly.
We know that we learn to speak before we read. We sleep before we grow. We plant before we eat. We experience before we trust. So WHY do we stagger at the idea of spending time and energy to grow our fitness? Who can we believe to help us?
Maybe it’s because we read a little about a lot of fitness topics. And there are a lot of experts telling us a little truth. Even if we think we’ve seen fitness change quickly, it’s only because we’re seeing someone else do it. It may seem quick to us, but we haven’t been there at every meal, every workout, heard every conversation and spent every dollar.
We know that if we’re the one getting in shape, it’s a grind. There are mistakes, setbacks, months of work, days of fatigue and hours of frustration. Then there are steps of growth, moments of strength, and eventually, days and days of peaceful energy. The latter happens when you trust the process of time and when you seek advice that’s true. You believe in yourself and those helping you.
We aren’t convinced of what we read unless we know the writer or the subject and have confirmed it personally. Buying online, or from a blog, is a big leap. So, before you stop reading, check me out. See what I’m about. Read the testimonies and browse the variety of services available. Blogs and programs are created quickly, but connection and change takes time and trust. I hope you’ll believe me and experience success.
